  • Congratulations to Tylan Davis for his recent appointment as Band Director at Swainsboro Middle School! 

  • Congratulations to Danny Alford for advancing to final round of the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra 2nd trombone audition.  Danny has also been invited to the sub-list of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra!

  • Congratulations to Elizabeth Toles for being invited to the 2023 International Trombone Summit!  She has also been invited to perform at 2023 Trombonanza and will be travelling to Argentina for the annual festival!

  • Congratulations to Crews Owen for acceptances into the MM programs at Duquesne University (with assistantship) and Louisiana State University!   He will be headed to Pittsburgh for Fall 2023, where he will study with James Nova!

  • Congratulations to Ben Novo for being invited to the 2023 Rafael Mendez Brass Institute!  Ben has also recently been named as a Redcoat Section Leader for Fall 2023!

  • Congratulations to Dalton Hooper for acceptances to the 2023 Raphael Mendez Brass Institute, Sewanee Summer Music Festival, and the International Music Academy of Anargyrios of and Korgialegnios School of Spetses (located in Spetses - Greece)!  

  • Congratulations to Trey Heaton for being invited to the 2023 Prague Summer Nights music festival!  Trey has also recently been named as a Redcoat Section Leader for Fall 2023!

  • Congratulations to David Cain for advancing to the final round of the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra audition for 2nd trombone!   David has also been accepted as a participant for the 2023 Michael Mulcahy Seminar, and has moved into the semi-final round of the STS Orchestral Excerpts Competition!

                                                                        

  • Congratulations to Elizabeth Toles (MM) on being invited to join the Athena Brass Band for concerts in May 2023!  Elizabeth has also recently joined the Georgia Brass Band as their bass trombonist!

  • Congratulations to Dalton Hooper for being named the runner-up for the State Division of the MTNA Young Artist Solo Competition!

  • Congratulations to Danny Alford for winning a sublist audition for the Spartanburg Symphony Orchestra!  Danny was also invited to the 2022 Raphael Mendez Brass Institute and the Third Coast Trombone Retreat. Most recently, Danny has advanced to the final round of the UGA Concerto Competition!

  • Congratulations to Jonas Ventresca for accepting a position as camp counselor for the 2022 Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp!  Jonas also won the staff concerto competition!

  • Congratulations to Trey Heaton for being named as a semi-finalist for the 2022 Southeast Trombone Symposium solo competition!

  • Congratulations to Andrew Taylor (BM - 2020) for being accepted into the Artist Diploma program at Carnegie Mellon University!

  • Congratulations to Will Panter (BM - 2021) for accepting the TA position for his MM in Wind Conducting at Western Michigan University!

  • Congratulations to Riley Bahin (BM - 2020) for accepting the Brass Quintet TA position for doctoral studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder!

  • Congratulations to Matt Walley (MM - 2012) for being appointed as Instructor of Low Brass at Rowan University! Matt is also the personnel manager for The Orchestra Now!

  • Congratulations to Blake Lawson (MM - 2021) for being appointed as Instructor of Low Brass at Limestone College and Newberry College!  Blake was also a finalist in the recent Second Trombone audition for the Symphony Orchestra of Augusta. 

  • Congratulations to Davis Clark (BME - 2021) for being appointed to the Director of Bands position at Clarke Middle School!

                                                                        

  • Congratulations to Will Panter (BME - Senior) for being appointed to the Director of Bands position at South Effingham Middle School!   Will was also recently a recipient of the 2021 UGA Presidential Award of Excellence....an honor reserved for the very best of the graduating class.   Bravo Will!

  • Congratulations to Studio Alum Marley Gilbert (BM - Composition) for being accepted into the MM Composition Program at the University of Edinburgh!   Amazing news, Marley! 

  • Dr. Bynum's contemporary chamber group MOD[ular] Ensemble is featured on Peter Van Zandt Lane's album New Cartography, which is in consideration for a Grammy Award Nomination for Best Small/Chamber Ensemble Performance.  

  • Dr. Bynum was awarded the 2020 Creative Research Award, representing the Arts & Humanities.  This was in recognition of his solo release  Catalyst.   He was also promoted to Full Professor.
